Festival Merchandise 2023

After a long Winter, it is finally time to get ready for festival season with sustainable merchandise! If you have not had the experience or the opportunity to live through a festival, let us give you some tips and pointers on must-have items you need to bring with you, which will undoubtedly make your stay a lot more pleasant.

When packing for a festival it’s very important to make a list of items you must take with you, and what makes that list much easier is splitting it into sections, a festival list can get quite lengthy.

Yes, obviously you’ll need clothes, however, I’m not talking about that cute tube top you’ll wear on the 2nd night. I’m talking about some slightly more practical items that will have your back throughout the entire stay which you won’t regret bringing with you:

  • Socks –make sure you’re equipped with enough to last you day and night (festivals can get chilly) and there is also a chance you’ll step in wet grass or get caught in an unexpected downpour in your good shoes.
  • Waterproof jacket or poncho – it’s always handy to have something waterproof on you. You won’t have the luxury of going for a nice hot bubble bath to warm up at a festival so it’s important to stay dry. A poncho is great for daytime due to its lightness, whereas a jacket will be ideal for the after party at the campsite later on in the evening, and responsible for keeping you nice and warm when the night gets cold.
  • Bucket hats – keep your unwashed hair at bay, and the sun out of your eyes, and let’s be honest, they’re a vibe at festivals.
Accessories

There are some accessories that are simply essential at festivals:

  • Rucksack or travel backpack – the things you need for a festival will slowly stack up and usually the trek from the carpark to your designated camping space is not for the faint-hearted.  You’ll definitely need something comfortable to carry all those items in.
  • Fanny pack / cross-body bag –  you’ll need something small that won’t get in the way of fun but also something you can store your valuables in (pockets are a risky business).
  • Sunglasses – for the good hair days
  • Re-usable water bottle – it’s important to stay hydrated, your best option is a copper vacuum-sealed bottle which can keep your drink cold for long periods of time.
  • Power bank – it’s an absolute must, you can’t capture all those memories with a deceased phone! There are charging points available at most festivals, but why ruin the fun for yourself when you can have one on the go and just leave the power bank at one of the charging stations when you’re done?

It’s important to at least attempt to stay fresh and look after yourself during a festival, it’s not exactly a 5-star resort but you can make do with these:

  • Lip Balm – You’ll have a lot of singing to do so it’s best to keep your lips moisturised to prevent chapping.
  • SPF – we love a good sunny day but it’s important to protect yourself from sunburn which can completely ruin the experience for you.
  • Hand Sanitiser – festivals are great, porta loo’s…. not so much. Having a small bottle of hand sanitiser on you at all times can help you manage that icky feeling after touching something you know is unsanitary.
  • Toothpaste & Toothbrush – a festival is not an excuse!
  • First aid kit – I’m not talking about a suitcase filled with bandages, sterile eye dressings, emergency pair of crutches, and a personal paramedic (there are medical areas for that) but just a simple mini pack that consists of essentials like a small roll of bandage, a dressing, tape and plasters just in case you slip on the muddy ground and fall onto something sharp. Best to be safe than sorry!

I could continue and make a much longer list of essentials which could include; tents, sleeping bags, camping chairs, blow-up mattresses, and many, many other things but that wouldn’t be very relatable to what we do here at The Sourcer. So with the festival season finally kicking off, I hope you’re getting prepared!
