Get Your Green On: Recycled Promotional Products

More and more people are becoming aware of the importance of recycling, and with that in mind we wanted to bring awareness to the 18th of March which is global recycling day, as well as give you some suggestions for much more ‘recycle-friendly’ promotional merchandise.

So, what is global recycling day?

Global recycling day focuses on the climate emergency and bringing awareness of recycling being a key part of the circular economy which helps us preserve our natural resources, as they will eventually run out. Each year the ‘Seventh Resource’ (recycling) saves over 700 million tonnes in CO2 emissions, and this is projected to increase to 1 billion tons by 2030. There are two main goals of global recycling day:

  1. Raising awareness to world leaders that recycling is an issue that cannot be ignored on a global scale, and that urgent, united action is crucial to make a positive impact on our planet.
  2. To spread awareness to the public across the planet and ask that they re-consider resources, not waste.

Let us take you on a quick dive into recyclable materials that minimise the strain we put daily on our planet.

Aluminium

Aluminium is an amazing material with a multitude of benefits – it’s lightweight, preserves food freshness, and is highly malleable. Plus, it’s infinitely recyclable! But it’s important to remember not to let this valuable resource go to waste.

Did you know that recycling aluminium cans takes 95% less energy than creating new ones? That’s a huge saving in both energy and resources!

Luckily, there are plenty of great solutions made from aluminium – from drinkware to business card holders, pens to lip balms. And when their useful life is up, all of these items can be easily recycled. Let’s embrace the sustainability of aluminium and reduce waste in our daily lives.

Product ideas: Recycling
Paper

Paper is a vastly universal material that serves its purpose in many industries. Ranging from POS (point of sale) materials to promotional swag packs, from notebooks to sticky notes. From pull-up banners all the way down to posters and leaflets. It doesn’t always have to be considered disposable, as every day we work on improving our processes and techniques to create more and more easily recyclable products from this versatile material.

Here are some examples of what you can achieve with a little imagination; a wireless charger, a fully recycled and recyclable notebook, and fully recycled sticky notes and all of these can be put back into circulation and repurposed into something completely different.

Plastic

I know what you’re thinking “Oh no, plastic bad!” but hear me out. We understand plastic can be a hard no, but that does also depend on the type of plastic. Single-use plastic? Definite no. Reusable or recycled plastic? Absolutely yes. Plastic has many uses, and if you take a look around your home or office you’ll be able to spot an incredible amount of it. Did you know that many plastic products can be fully recycled or even made from recycled materials? It’s true! Unfortunately, despite this fact, we still generate a staggering 15 million “single use” plastic bottles per day. Let’s do our part to reduce this number and protect the planet. There are plenty of options out there for reusable drinkware. A few examples of what ‘good plastic’ can get you is tote bags, drinkware and even cooler bags and backpacks and recently even clothing.

Glass

Glass is an incredibly versatile material that stands on a pretty high pedestal when it comes to quality, purity and performance. It is also a 100% recyclable material. Glass has uses in many industries like food, technology, manufacturing, and architecture, and that’s just to name just a few. With its crystal clarity, it’s a much-loved material not only by the manufacturers but by the consumers as glass tends to give a slight tinge of luxury. Did you know that a tonne of recycled glass saves over a tonne of natural resources? Maybe it’s time to reconsider which lunch box is more practical (your left-over spaghetti bolagnaise certainly won’t ruin your glass container). Anyway, here are some examples of how glass is used in our industry.

Recycling Glass products

To sum things up, no one is saying you have to stop buying things you like but it is important to consider the impact it has on our one and only planet. Can it be recycled? Is it made from recycled materials? Will it end up in a landfill? They’re all questions you have to ask yourself before making a purchase, the alternatives are out there, you just need to find them or you know… get us to do it for you!
